First Apartment Essentials!

So you're finally moving into your first apartment. You've been excited about the move for quite some time but reality has sunk in and you're not sure what you will need for your new space. Moving into your first apartment can be overwhelming but Eldon Furniture has you covered because we have created a handy guide for what your apartment essentials will be. Wheather you are heading to college for the first and sharing an apartment with a few roommates or you've graduated from the dorm life and you are moving up into the real world, we hope you find this list helpful!


Sofa for Your Living Room 

If you are expecting any guests or just enjoy relaxing, a couch for your living room is going to be a necessity. If you have it in the budget, a few chairs would be a great touch to add both more seating and a design element to your new home. If it's not in the budget, you will have to at least splurge for the sofa.


Coffee Table 

In addition to your couch, you will need a coffee table. After all, you can't just put your remotes on the floor! We have a wide selection of affordable furniture at the Lake of the Ozarks, including some great coffee tables!  

Window Coverings 

You will need something to cover your windows, at least your bedroom and main windows. This is a great way to start decorating your home because you add fun patterns and colors to any room in your home. Aside from adding design to your apartment, you want window coverings for privacy, especially if you live on the ground level. 

Dishes 

You can't eat off of paper plates for every meal, or at least you shouldn't. You will need a basic set of dishes for your apartment including cups, bowls, silverware, and plates. You may want to include a few baking dishes too. 

Cookware 

Unless you plan on eating out for every meal, you will need to purchase a set of pots and pans. For your first set, you don't have to go for the best of the best. Simply get a quality set that has everything you need. Frying pan, stock pot, and a casserole dish.

Matching Bath Towles 

You will need to house your bathroom with a towel set. A set of four bath towels and hand towels is a good number for your first apartment. If you plan on having frequent guests, you may up that number to six. 

Bedroom Set 

Unless you plan to bring your bedroom set from home, you will need to furnish your bedroom. The bare minimum for a bedroom set includes a mattress, bedding, a nightstand, and dresser. A good quality mattress should last around 8-10 years, so invest in one that has great quality. Tool Set

When you move into your first apartment, it's a great idea to have a small tool set handy. A simple toolset with screwdrivers, a hammer, and a tape measure will certainly come in handy. 

Something From Home 

Lastly, we suggest that you bring a few personal items that remind you of home. Moving into your first apartment is a big step! While you are creating a brand new home for yourself, bringing an item or two from home in case you get a little homesick is a good idea. Something like pictures or decor, really just anything that reminds you of home.
