6 Essentials for Your Spare Room

Setting up the perfect guest bedroom is essential for making your guests feel welcome and comfortable in your home. 1) Cozy Bedding 

You may be thinking since it's the guest bedroom that you shouldn't go all out for the nice sheets and bedding since it won't be used a lot. However, if you want your guests to feel comfortable and have a great nights sleep while they are visiting, invest in cotton or microfiber sheets with a nice cozy pillow soft comforter set. Your guest will thank you when they have a great nights sleep, so investing in nice bedding is essential.

2) Keep Your Guests Hydrated 

It's easy to get dehydrated when you are traveling. Make it easy for guests to stay hydrated and keep bottled water in the guest room for them. They may not think to ask for a bottle of water when they are walking out of the door or when they arrive, so having water waiting for them is a nice gesture.

3) Bedside Lamps are a MUST! 

When you are staying in an unfamiliar space, knowing where everything is in the dark can be tricky! If you have to stumble out of bed during the night, having a lamp to turn on to find your way in and out of bed will come in handy. Plus, your guest may want to do some reading before bed, so a lamp works much better for that than an overhead light.

4) Hang Up a Mirror 

You should always have a mirror in your guest room. Mirrors will help guests getting ready for the day a breeze- especially if they are trying to share a bathroom.


5) Curtains for Privacy 

Your guests need the option for privacy. If they like to let the light shine into their room in the morning that's great but they should have the option to close the blinds for more privacy if they so choose.

6) Include Desk Space 

This is often overlooked in a spare room but having a desk for your guests is a good idea. They may need a place to lay out their itinerary or often people need to check their emails or do a little bit of work while they are on their vacation. Including a desk in your spare room design is a courtesy to your guests.
