How to Create a Cozy Living Room!

All of this winter weather we’ve had has all of us at Eldon Furniture thinking about cozy living rooms, hot coffee, and watching the snow fall! Speaking of cozy living rooms....have you ever saw a cozy living room in person or even in a magazine and wondered how they achieved this look? It’s easy to get some serious home envy when you catch a glimpse of a cozy space! That’s why today, our Lake of the Ozarks furnitures store has a few tips for creating a cozy living room!


Anchor Your Furniture to the Floor 

Okay, we don’t actually mean anchor your furniture to the floor but using an area rug to pull your furniture together can help create an inviting space. This is especially helpful if your living room is an open floor concept.

Layers Are Your Friend! 

One thing you may notice about every cozy space is layers! Layer your living room with area rugs, tables, lamps, throw pillows, furniture arrangements, blankets, and more! A layered look almost always sends out a cozy vibe!

Cozy Throws 

Of course, no cozy living room is complete without a plush throw. This goes back to layering your living room. Consider adding a plush throw to your accent chair, ottoman, sofa. Don’t be afraid to add a couple! We highly recommend a chunky knit throw for extra coziness. The use of baskets with throw blankets is a great addition to your space as well.


Candles 

Placing a couple candles throughout the room is a great way to add a cozy layer to your living room. Choose calming scents like cotton, linen, lavender, or tea tree. You can even purchase candles that sound like a crackling fire.

Leather Recliner 

There honestly isn’t anything much more cozy than an oversized recliner! Perfect for snuggling up to read a book or catch up on your favorite show!

Electric Fireplace 

If you don’t have a fireplace in your living room, adding an electric fireplace can help make you feel almost as cozy as having a real one! Plus, you won’t have to worry about building an actual fire.

Sectional Sofa 

A sectional sofa is something you can sink into after a long day! Add a few throw pillows and blankets and you’ve got the perfect place to relax.
