Quilts started out as spare pieces of fabric patched together so that extra fabric was not wasted back in the 18th century. Quilts are great because they come in a variety of patterns. Not all quilts today come in patchworks. A lot of quilts today are one piece of fabric. They offer comfort and warmth but are often thinner than a traditional comforter.

Typically, a duvet cover is used to protect bedding such as a down, feather, or wool materials.
