Decorate Your Nightstand Like a Pro!

The Basics for Styling 

One of the things you'll want to think about is height. When decorating anything, a key factor is incorporating different heights into the design. This helps avoid a messy and overcrowded look for your tabletop. Think tall, medium, and small detail item. Read on to get a few ideas for each. 

Adding Height: The Tall Item 

You'll want to add a little height to your table and this will generally be the focal point of your table. When it comes to styling a nightstand, most of us will use a lamp to achieve this. A lamp next to your bed is a very practical item and lamps can add a decorative element at the same time. If you don't want to use a lamp, other items you could use are wall art behind the nightstand, or a potted plant if you have a window with sunlight coming in during the day. 



Adding Personality: The Middle Item 

The middle item is your chance to add some personality to your nightstand. If you love to read before bed, stack a few of your favorite books and the current book your reading. If you like to incorporate nature into your home decor, consider adding a small plant or vase with flowers. If you love showing off your family, add a nice picture frame. 

Adding Practicality: The Small Details 

You want your nightstand to be well decorated but you still want to be able to use it for its main purpose - to have a place to store items next to your bed. Instead of these items causing clutter, plan for these items and incorporate them into your design. If you put your earrings next to your nightstand, consider adding a nice dish to store them. If you always have a glass of water next to the bed, get a holder to set your cup on.
