Furniture Arranging 101

A great way to freshen up your home is with new furniture! Once you get new furniture, you'll have to decide how to araange your new furniture. Create a Focal Point 

When it comes to arranging your furniture, you should choose a focal point to arrange your furniture around. Most of us have a TV in our living rooms, so in that case, the tv is the focal point and your furniture should be arranged around it. If you aren't a TV watcher, no problem! You should still have a focal point. Your focal point can be a big window, a fireplace, or built-in shelving.

Leave Space Between Walls and Furniture 

Even if you have a small room, you should never push furniture against the walls. Allow a couple of inches between the wall and the furniture to allow breathing room. You'd be surprised how this can actually make your room feel bigger. If you have a bigger space to work with, feel free to create conversation areas and walkways with your furniture.

Keep Traffic Flow in Mind 

Making sure that you keep traffic flow top of mind is essential. Keep plenty of space between coffee tables, chairs, and sofas. It should be easier for people to walk from one room to another without tripping over furniture.


Have Proper Lighting 

Lighting is an important element in any room. Often, a big overhead light, such as a fanlight, can be overpowering. Adding a few lamps in your space is a great way to not only introduce more lighting to your home but also add a great design element. Floor lamps go nicely beside sofas or behind accent chairs. Add a table lamp to shelves, mantles, and end tables.
